Education, Prejudice and Discrimination: A study in Readiness for Desegregation

Summary:

The Article is about the prejudges people have within the walls of Education. not only education is part of this scientific article, the investigators also researched the opinion of several people from different levels. Is there any relation between prejudice and discrimination? And could this be connected with education itself? Research have showed that discrimination only exists from the person who is prejudiced. And while talking about education, if people don’t want any discrimination in class they have to drawl their attention to the persons who are prejudiced and prove them they are wrong. It is hard to remove prejudice all at once, but with facts and creativity there are ways to convince students or teachers.

Evaluation:

I thought this was a very boring article. Unfortunately it was the only article I could find about the subject I had my speakers corner about. It was the only article which came near my idea. And I think it still does but I think my own idea and my own subject are much more interesting. I had clear points of what I thought was wrong or right about the difference in level and the prejudices people have. I thought this article was an article with too many words, this made me loose my interests and made me find this article boring because at one hand they talk about a certain subject and then suddenly they talk about something completely different. As a dyslectic I find that terribly difficult to follow and to read.

Levi Bellfield guilty of Milly Dowler's murder

Summary

Levi Bellfield seems to be a normal man, but he is now a convicted murderer. Today Levi Bellfield was found guilty of murdering Milly Dowler, a thirteen year old schoolgirl. Levi Bellfield possibly abducted and murdered the schoolgirl after she walked past his home. This was not the only crime Bellfield has made. In 2002 Bellfield was also accused of attempting to abduct a 11 year old girl. This was a few days before the murder of Milly Dowler found place. It took the parents of Milly nine years to get justice. The killer had been living 50 yards away. Bellfield killed two other girls before he got arrested two years later. Supposely Bellfield will never leave jail again.

Evaluation

I thought this story was some kind of creapy to read. It’s hard for me and I think others too, to understand what this man is actually thinking. I cannot get to that. Why would someone like he, or anybody else commit a crime like this? I got chills while reading this. The article was easy to read and I found that delightfull. I don’t think, with a subject like this an article should be difficult to read, because people will stop reading. The choose visual  words in the article. Something I dislike, like using names of the victems, I think that is much too personal for me to read. The article was very informative about the punishment this man is given. I think it is a relieve to many people this hypocrite is behind bars.

JK Rowling gifts fans Harry Potter website

Summary

JK Rowling will release unpublished material of Harry Potter on her new website. This gift to all the fans will be described by author: JK Rowling as a ‘give-back” present to all her fans. The unpublished material will include very detailed information of the famous characters in the Harry Potter books. And an explanation about how she came up with the names, words, fictional sports and thoughts of the land of the wizords and witches. There will be a special spot at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington for all the fans to share their books. The new website will include social networking, computergames, access to material cuts from the books and read new insights of the author. On the website there will also be an online store where fans can buy eBooks and digital books.

Svaluation

I found this article fun to read. I thought JK Rowling has stopped with writing. I thought and maybe this is very short thought of me but I thought she had enough money and would quit with writing. Guess I was wrong then! She is doing well. I read all the books of harry potter and maybe I’m not the biggest fan that there is but I thought the books were fun to read. Now reading this article means that JK. Rowling is still an succes and that she is still loved by her fans. I think it is a very good thing she puts her thoughts down on paper and on the website so the fans can really feel what sees and feels during her writing process. By doing this she makes her self more relatable.

Boy-3-killed after failings

Summary

The article is about a  three year old boy is tortured and murdered by a couple who had to take care of him after a string of failings by agencies monitoring his killers. The boy died in the hospital on christmas eve in 2008 after being attacked while he was being looked after by the couple christopher Taylor and Kayley Boleyn. The mother of the boy knew nothing of the abuse.Member of the staff working for the contractor saw Taylor and boley with Ryan during December but these sightings were not weird and they did not notified the police. It could be possible the boy was kept by the couple at their house. Two days before his death his mother tried to see ther son. He had bruising to his face and she was not allowed to come in any further. the boy was murdered two days later

Evaluation

I found this story too very weird to read. I don’t always get why people put this on the internet because it creeps me out and I don’t get why people would do this. How sick can you be to kill a small child. I really do not get this and it makes me furious while I am reading this story because I feel so sorry for the people who knew the boy. More objectively speaking, the article was much to long. The writer has brought too many points to the story which were not that important and kept me from reading any further. I thought the story was chaotic and not great to read at all. Not only the subject was horrible but also the article it self.

Goodbye, size zero. Hello, normality

There is a new product on the market. Size zero is going to be trade into a normal size, resembling the average British woman. Alexander McQueen has come with the idea to design clothes for the real and normal woman. Fashion students will have to use size 16 to 18 mannequins. The fashion world has become some sort of obsession for people but has also its downsides like obsessions with youth, perfection and size zero. Students find it very hard to create a design for normal women but the fashion designers think different about that. They don’t know what they have, they say. Also it is plan that is financially builded. Woman of middle-age have more money than someone in their early twenties. the initiave will be considered in more countries across the UK and Europe.  

I think this article is fun to read. It is a long but interesting article. This because I like fashion but I do not have any interests for fashion anymore. the reason is because size zero is a unachievable size and it only makes you as a woman feel fat, not good enough or not normal. I think the fashion has had enough of bad influence on the girls and women of their own generation. I think it is time for a change. And I think this article is a very good start. It is good to read that I am not the only one who reconed fashion has become obsessive and not normal. It is not fun to watch fashion anymore because those girls seem to be walking dead and too skinny. That is not what I want to be. And I think this article perfectly describes the wish of the English Women.

City living affects your brain

Summary:

There are parts in the brain that can be activated to sense danger but these become overactive when there seems to be a lot of noise. Through many years of investigations, researchers have found out that people who live in the city appear to have more stress. The emotion and anxiety seems to be overactive in city-dwellers.

For ones who didn’t know; the brains of people who actually live in the city, works differently than the brains of people who live in the country; or outside the city. When the emotion and anxiety is overactive it can cause mental health problems. The researchers are afraid that within the next ten years the number of people who suffer from mental health will raise. Because in these days many people go to the city to live there, more people could probably be considered as the next victims of the noise and atmosphere in the city.  

Evaluation

I think this article is very interesting to read. Science always attracts me, especially the brain and behavior of people. I do know that the bad air in the city is worse for people, but I didn’t know that the atmosphere and the noise could be a possible problem for human health, especially related with the human behavior and brain. So I didn’t quit know that the city could have negative psychological effects  on so many people. I found the article very interesting, but on the other hand of course I hesitate if the investigation is as true as they say it is.

Coffee ‘cuts Prostate Cancer Risk’ US Study Suggests

After times of studies of almost 50,000 US males, researchers have found out  that the risk to die from prostate cancer can be reduced with drinking coffee.  Men who drink like six or more cups of coffee a day have less the chance to get or develop the disease. Not only prostate cancer can be reduced by drinking coffee, also other diseases are rarer when you are a coffee drinker.  On the other hand, coffee is not a cure to prostate cancer. So the research is not created to help to prevent men who suffer from prostate cancer to cure the disease.

I think this article is funny to read. I don’t mean this in a weird way. But I think this research is kind of interesting. It is a small and interesting research. I did not even know that coffee could help or could help preventing prostate cancer. Now I wonder what is in the coffee. With other words, what am I drinking? There must be some trash in it because otherwise it wouldn’t prevent a disease from happening. I find this article interesting to read. Not that I know much more right now, but as I said it is interesting.
